The currency used in Socotra is the Yemeni Rial (YR).

 There are about 250 Rials to one USD and 296 Rials to one EURO (currency converter)

On your arrival, you have the opportunity to change some money into Yemeni Riyal at the National Bank and CAC bank in Hadibo, Socotra.  Credit Cards and  cheques are not accepted in Socotra and therefore you will need to bring  cash with you (USD is well accepted on the island, dated from 2017).

Please Note: advanced deposit payment are accepted by Western Union and balance for services booked is required on your arrival by cash. When travelling with Socotra Advisor, local  currency is need just for your private purches, as our prices are all inclusive (park entrance fees, food, hotel & camping accommodation, etc.).
