🎣 Wild Fishing Adventures in Socotra — A Paradise for Popping & Jigging

Socotra is widely regarded as one of the world’s top wild destinations for popping, thanks to the extraordinary abundance and size of Giant Trevally (GT). With average catches exceeding 40 kg—and some monsters reaching up to 60 kg—this is a dream come true for serious anglers.

But GTs are just the beginning.

🐟 A Rich Variety of Game Fish

Whether you’re into popping, spinning, or jigging, Socotra’s waters are teeming with powerful species, including:

  • Red snapper, groupers of all kinds, coral trout, and emperor fish
  • Spanish mackerel, barracuda, golden trevally, kingfish, yellow-spotted trevally, and blacktip trevally
  • Sailfish, dorado, wahoo, and even marlin

The best months for sailfish and Spanish mackerel are October and November, while other species are present throughout the season. Jigging is also highly productive, especially for amberjack, grouper, sharks, and rusty jobfish.

🌊 Shore Fishing & Secret Wreck Spots

Prefer to cast from land? Shore fishing offers exciting opportunities with species like bonefish and striped threadfin (a close cousin of the bonefish). We’ve also identified seven shipwrecks—true hotspots for popping and jigging—located just 15 to 30 minutes from our base camp in Ras Irsel.
