Sport  fishing itinerary for 6 days + 1 day sightseeing  

Socotra may be considered one of the best wild destination for popping on the planet, thanks to the quantity and size of the GT (Giant Trevally), found, with an average weight of more than 40 kg, but no trouble get up to 60 kg. More than GT there are many other species that can be caught on popping and spinning, like huge red snapper, grouper of all types, coral trout, emperor, big Spanish mackerel, barracuda, golden trevally, kingfish, barracuda, yellow spotted trevally, black tip travelly, sailfish, dorado, wahoo and marlin. The best month for sail fish and Spanish mackerel are October and November, the other fish are present all year through. Also jigging can be practiced with success. We have amberjack, grouper, sharks, rusty jobfish. Also fishing from the shore offers interesting possibilities, given the presence of bonefish and striped threadfin (similar to bonefish). We have marked 7 shipwrecks which are real hotspot for fishing (either popping or jigging) and that are well within 15-30 minutes reach from the base camp.

This is a unique fishing sport itinerary which enables you to discover Socotra wild unspoiled sea Itinerary:

• Day 1:  Arrival in Socotra ( Hadibo +Diksam plateau)

Upon your arrival at Socotra  International Airport  you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to Socotra Hotel in Hadibo for check in, then after lunch we move to Dixam plateau to visit the forest of Dragon’s blood tree. We finally drive back to Hadibo. for overnight accommodation. Dinner and overnight in Socotra Hotel.

• Day 2 to day 7: Sport fishing spot Ras Iresal

On day 2 breakfast will be served very early (5:00 am) in Socotra Hotel to exploit the best part of the day on the sea. Transfer by 4×4 car  to the most interesting fishing spot Ras Iresal. It is in the northeast of Socotra, the point where the Indian Ocean and the Arabian sea meet. Upon your arrival to the fishing spot you can go out for fishing with local fishermen and enjoy your time: the fishing trip in the morning lasts about 6 hours, boats are coxed by local fishermen very well skilled in this sea/Ocean and traditional fishing, but not such well trained in modern fishing techniques. Most of the anglers prefer to practice popping and vertical jigging…

Lunch will be served at the beach. Relax and enjoy the island nature. Later you can do more fishing as spinning from the coast (at your choice white sand beach or cliffs) or from the boats, ready at your service all the time. Overnight accommodation: Dinner and overnight at the camp base

NOTE : The same sport fishing program as day 2 will be applied for the following day

Our fishing program will include:

• Ministry fishing fees and agreement with local fishermen/villages
• Accommodation at your choice in hotel (Hadibo) or camp-sites (Socotra Advisor Fishing Camp: private tents, cooking service and ice boxes for your drinks; main tent for meals, table and chairs, umbrellas; fresh water for shower; technical toilet)
• Full-board: food prepared by our cooks at camp-sites or in local restaurants (rice or pasta, vegetable soups, fishes, lobster, goat meat, eggs, cheese, local bread, milk, coffee, tea, honey or other spreads for breakfast, bottled water and soft drinks)
• Transfer to fishing sites:  4x4car (Toyota land cruiser) and pick up for your equipment
• Local boats (7/8m, 40/60HP outboard engine, comfortable for 2pax/boat)
• English speaking guide, Arabic speaking captain
